Yeast:

Craig and I took his parents on the Redhook brewery tour today. The tour guide used this plush giant microbe to explain how yeast works, and I thought it was appropriate that he (or she?) looks a little tipsy on a jar of hops.

NYC: Fisheye perspective:

I’m in NYC for work this week, and I had to come in to town on Sunday. I had some time to kill, so I ventured down to the Times Square area and snapped this shot with my fisheye. Of course, I needed Craig on the phone from Seattle to help me get back from my hotel!

It had to happen on Friday the 13th:

I lost my solitaire today of all unlucky days! I scrambled up and down and all throughout the house, and I was sure I wouldn’t find it. However, after I went through all three stories, I went back upstairs to the bathroom and looked in the sink. Craig was adamant that the diamond had gone down the sink when I washed my hands earlier in the day. I was distraught, but continued to look in the bathroom. As a last resort, I grabbed the bath rug and heard a little “ding!” There it was!

So, before I headed to Zales to get it fixed, I thought it’d make for a great shot. You can see the prongs are shot to hell! The band also really, really needs to be replated!

Arboreal rainbow:

Took a short trip to Howarth Park after work today. The tide wasn’t very high, so Craig and I putzed along the beach for awhile. I found this tree on the beach, and I really liked the collage of colors.

Leafscape:

I love how this leaf almost looks as if it’s been impaled. As I looked closer, the leaf was just translucent enough that I could see the fence through it. I also liked the different blurred colors of green in the background.

Craig and I went to the grocery store to pick up some fruits and veggies, and I happened to see these fingerling potatoes. I picked out a few oddly shaped ones. When we got home, I realized how well they fit together as this skeleton-esque potato hand.And, thus, this photo!
